Granollers revives one of Catalonia's most participative and emblematic major festivals every year. Since 1983, a popular and unique event has been introduced where two teams, "Blancs i Blaus" (Whites and Blues), compete in a series of festive events throughout the town to see who wins. The central event is the "Concurs de rajolers" (Bricklaying Contest) where the two teams have to generate the highest number of bricks within a set time frame.
Taking advantage of the 40th anniversary (1983–2023), the number 40 is subtly included and hinted at, formed by the white and blue pieces.
The main concepts that have been worked on come from the festival itself and its traditions: cooperation, celebration, play, and diversity. These are the central pillars. The figures forming the graphic image have been treated as if they were built in a mold of bricks, representing the main event of the festival.
Various figures collaborate, celebrate, and play. Some of them are parts of instruments or other elements that characterize the major festival, such as devils or giants. Others represent the mold for making the bricks, for example, or the bricks themselves that come together to build the major festival. All through a casual and festive graphic language.
It is important to highlight that these figures do not have a defined gender since they are pieces that converge to form a whole. Some may be more or less abstract than others. They can be blue, white, or orange, triangular, round, or even without a defined shape. This diversity is what makes the Granollers Major Festival unique and turns it into a special, cooperative, and inclusive celebration for everyone.
